Gilles Sunu, Jack Wilshere, Sanchez Watt and Jay Emmanuel-Thomas were the scorers that day for the Gunners. It was an almighty task for Liverpool to rescue their defitcit and their hopes were extinguished by the 25th minute, when Watt, scorer from the first leg, sprinted past three defenders to slot home a crucial away goal. Lauri Dalla Valle's goal early in the second half migh have mounted a comeback, but the goal offered false hope when goalscorer Watt turned provider; his cross being diverted in for an own-goal by Daniel Ayala to ensure that Arsenal claimed the trophy for the first time since 2001. The game was watched by both first-team managers, and with both teams not reaching finals this season, these youth players are an inspiration and surely have a bright future in the game.
