| Why Do we need Youth Footballers? |
When emerging youngsters break onto the football scene for the first time, people often wonder where he came from. It is true that some people think you can break into the first team overnight, but the reality couldn't be more different. Most players who now earned their trade in the lights of the football legaue were actually brought through youth teams, whether they be academies or u18s, after being spotted by scouts at a young age playing for a local team. Okay, it's not every day that a wonder player with the natural talent of Wayne Rooney, Theo Walcott or Jamie Carragher emerges but the clubs are relying more and more thier own schemes to produce players who have the ability to step up to the plate. Although clubs take applications very seriously, most clubs are starting to take players on if they are above the age of eight. With Brian Barwick at the FA looking to ensure that each team has five English-based players in the starting line-up, the future seems bright for youth footballers nationally.
